Finally! (ok, it has been just a week or so...)
Recently, I put my RecAtlas project online, intending to help parents from the Greater Vancouver Area find activities from Recreation Centers more easily. The project is fairly new, and it has A LOT to improve, but for the MVP 0, I believe I have the necessary bits and pieces in place. No MVP is supposed to be perfect; they are supposed to be launched fast, and that's exactly what I tried to do with this one.
The search is basic, but it has the necessary features for now. The user management is also basic, but I don't have the intention to collect information that I'm not gonna have use. For now, I tried to focus on aggregating the information from all the City Hall websites I could fetch information from. This alone will already save time for parents, since they don't have to look into different websites, making the same search, only to discover the activities are already Full or Closed. Also, users at the moment can Bookmark (you need to sign up) activities so they don't get lost in the sea of dozens of thousands of activities in the GVA.
In the future, I'm planning more features like: Calendar view of the Bookmarked activities, Reminders for activities opening soon, filtering activities by age, and so on. Does it mean it will be only for the GVA area? Of course not, but for now, yes. I have bigger plans with the project, but unfortunately, big plans require adoption by the users, and that's what I'm gonna focus on now. Getting this in the hands of the people I wanna help is essential, and it's the short-term plan.
