Yep, here we go again, it's been many years since the last time I actually tried to start anything by myself (that's a lie, actually, but let's ignore that for now). A few weeks ago, I was talking to a friend, and considering that I'm unemployed right now, the thing I have the most of is time. Time to learn, time to bike, time to read, and of course, time to code personal projects.
This time I decided to do something more... ambitious. Not sure if this is gonna actually work. There is a lot to do, even to launch the MVP 1, and I don't know how many weeks it's gonna take to actually finish the very basics of this "potential" product. Ok, but what in the hell is this project? Good question, for now, we kinda have an idea, which is trying to find activities from Recreation Centers in the Greater Vancouver Area.
Will that work? Not sure, to be honest, there are a few barriers to that, but I'm confident we can at least solve a few of the problems we see in the current way things are done from the different City Halls composing the GVA region, and the main customers are parents, having to juggle different websites just to schedule a Ballet class for their children.
What is the goal of all this? Well, if possible, to earn some money and have a small product that I can call "mine". Something I kinda have experience with. I had my own company in my early 20s, and I'll be honest, that was one of the best years of my life, years that I was feeling fulfilled, years in which I actually DID like to wake up early, go to the office, have some breakfast with my co-founders, and get things done. I want to have that again.
Now, 10 years later, the tech industry is facing a paradigm shift again, things are uncertain, and if I could have at least a side project that I could earn some income, that would make me a less stressed person. There is also the whole fact that sometimes you wanna do things your way, but you simply can't because someone else is paying your salary and calling the shots.
I have hope (for now), and I'll try to make this work, I have to, for my own sanity, haha.
